Partition of drive/ disk is the process of dividing a physical hard drive into various multiple drives that are separated from other drives. If we have a large size of the drive and we want to store our different types of file in different places or drive then we can use it. Mainly we can organize our files in a manner. And this will leads to protect our data from any unwanted system failure.
Disk Management is the process by which we can take care of our hard drive link with the system. It is the tools developed by the Microsoft by which one can fully manage his/her drive which has been linked to your system. It can also be used for format a drive but the main purpose of this tool is to partition a drive.
You can simply open disk management by going through this method.

Step By Step Guide To Partition A Hard Drive
The very common and simple methods that are been used to partition your hard drive without formatting your windows is with the help of Disk Management. You can use this method for a partition of your drive in any windows whether it is WIndow XP, 7, 8 & 10. Also, it ensures that your data will not lose by performing these activities.
Step 1: The very first step is to right click on your My Computer and tap on Manage.
Step 2: Now at the left side of the screen you can see there is an option named as Disk Management tap on it.
Step 3: Now you can see the list of drives available in your system.
Step 4: At this step, you need to select the drive which you want to shrink to create a new drive.
Step 5: In this post, we are going to create a new partition from C drive after shrinking the volume of C drive. Enter the size of the new drive which you want to create and tap on shrink.
1 Mb= 1024 Kb
1 Gb= 1024 Mb
1 Tb= 1024 Gb
Step 6: After shrinking the C Drive you can see there is unallocated space are created from which you need to create a new drive.
Step 7: Right click on the unallocated space to create your new drive with the help of disk management.
Step 8: Follow some steps to create your New Drive.
Step 9: Now you can see your new drive is created.
